Tax-Deductible Contributions
Application 1023 for a 501(c)(3) determination is pending and pursuant to IRS Publication 557 a donor's contribution is deductible at this time to the amount of each donor's own particular tax situation. Please consult your own tax advisor as to how much of your contribution will be deductible for your particular situation and as to the provisions under Publication 557 and how they may relate to you in this transaction.
Do I Get A Gift for a Voluntary Donation?
Yes! In accord with the principle that it is better to give than to receive, The Tuxedo Club provides one of two priceless music CDs not available elsewhere to all donors giving a certain minimum.
(A tax-deduction consequence for the gift applies only for contributions in excess of $75. Plese see explanation below.)
The United States Internal Revenue Service requires us as a charitable organization to provide a written disclosure statement to donors of a quid pro contribution in excess of $75. (A quid pro quo contribution is a payment made to a charity by a donor partly as a contribution and partly for goods or services provided to the donor by the charity.
Written Disclosure of Value
The declaraction of the fair market value of merchandise given as required under the IRS Code for Disclosure for Quid Pro Quo Contribution is disclosed and published as follows: For a minimum voluntary donation of $35 or more, the unique Big Band's Alive, Swing, Swing, Swing music CD is sent to the donor by the charity. The charity's good-faith estimate of the fair market value of the CD is declared to be $25. A different gift is provided for a minimum donation of $75 or more which gift is one Gazebo Love music CD personally autographed by singer Daniel Truhitte (who played the part of Rolf in the movie version of the Sound of Music and who danced with Liesl in the gazebo to the song they sang together entitled "16 going on 17"). The charity's good-faith estimbat of the value of that personally autograhped CD is declared to be $50.
For donations in excess of $75, the amount of the contribution that is deductible for federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess of any money contributed by the donor over the value of the of goods or services provided to the donor by the charity.
The charity is not required to and does not file a disclosure statement for contributions of $75 or less.
